How many times have I looked in my wardrobe and found nothing to wear!?....Sometimes I just need a little something to perk the whole thing up and yesterday I found just what I was looking for! some brilliant stripey tops...now I know they are a perennial favourite and can if you are not careful look a bit as if you are going for a day at the seaside....nothing wrong with that if you happen to be there but not such a good look if you are in a more urban environment!!....but they give a modern and fesh look to a tired old spring wardrobe and a bit of interest to the inbetween season.....and god arent we so fed up with the weather and having to wear the same bloomin' stuff for months...well I am anyway and cant wait to break out!! wear something new and different....well just my musings anyway for what they are worth...I have recently got into stripe tops but I will only wear it with a contrast...say a leopard print scarf, or a star print scarf....the kind of scarf that has been languishing in the back of your cupboard because every one seems to have one these days and we all want a bit of originality dont we given half the chance? but mix the stripe with the leopard print scarf and it gives it a whole new lease of life...
...so back to the stripe I think it looks brilliant with a leather shirt over the top, or leather blazer or jacket... tk maxx and all saints do some great ones...its worth checking out their website....glass of wine in hand, when the kids are in bed...!the striped top/jumper stops the leather looking too rock chic for people of a certain age,( thats me!)and long chain necklace with maybe a tooth on it gives it that edge... and a pair of jeans and maybe good old faithfull converse to keep it real...helps to make it look funky rather than staid....or a pair of boyfriend jeans and heels...if you need to....remind me to show the clarks shoes and boots that i have my eyes on...they are amazing value, stylish and comfortable....
...stripes also work really well with a leopard print coat....black and cream look good...hennes has some fine cotton knits for about 12.99....and the blue and cream stripe looks really good under a cream jacket they do, its the cream crepe one for 24.99.....get it big, I am a 12 and bought the 18! ...it looks relaxed and laid back I will push up the sleeves...good for every day and its machine washable...i had a cream jacket last year from top shop and it was in and out of the machine without even needing an iron...!! like a smart cardigan when thrown over a t shirt and converse...
when the sun comes out that is!!!

...this tusk necklace is from a great site called shopbop in the states they ship to the UK and have fantastic and unusual stuff ....this shot is the only one I could download being a bit of a technophobe...but the kids are leaning over my shoulder and helping...well kind of!!...and it has the beaten gold dog tag too which looks brilliant worn with the tusk......the tusk is 120.00 pounds and the tag is by heather hawkins and is 83.00 I think they look gorgeous together...I think these would get a lot of use especially over lace shirts  tops and dresses which are on my next post! happy shopping!!...just off to research all the wonderful lace clothes out there on the web....!
